Sermsak to Visit Nan Province for Talks with Tourism Associations and Agencies to Address Flood Impact**

          On August 27, 2024, Mr. Sermsak Pongpanit, Minister of Tourism and Sports, chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee on Monitoring Flood Situations Affecting the Tourism Industry 2024 at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. After the meeting, he stated that the current flood situation in the affected provinces, including Chiang Rai, Nan, Phrae, Phayao, and Sukhothai, is now in the recovery phase, with close monitoring by the ministry and related agencies.

          Minister Sermsak mentioned that while some areas are still under flood watch, the overall situation is beginning to stabilize, especially in the affected tourist spots. Relevant agencies are currently working on restoring and repairing damaged tourist attractions so they can reopen as soon as possible. Tourists can safely travel to areas not affected by the floods. He also announced that tomorrow (August 28, 2024), he will visit Nan Province to attend a meeting with relevant agencies for further clarifications on the impacts and discuss the measures needed for government assistance. The meeting will involve representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Nan Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, the Tourist Police Bureau, Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism
Administration (Public Organization), local operators, and tourism associations in Nan Province.

          The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, along with related agencies, seek to develop measures for recovery, promotion, and organizing events to restore tourists' confidence in returning to travel as before.
