The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization), or DASTA, delegated its Loei Special Zone office to develop the province into a sustainable cultural and ecotourism destination. Loei Lifestyle: A Lifestyle of Sufficiency and Respect for Nature
Loei province consists of the following 14 districts – Muang, Naduang, Chiang Khan, Pak Chom, Dan Sai, Na Haew, Phu Rua, Ta Lee, Wang Sapung, Phu Kradueng, Phu Luang, Pha Kao, Erawan, and Nong Hin. Muang district serves as the center of government and administration, delegating authority to other areas. Despite rapid growth and change of the modern society, Loei has strongly maintained its unique cultural identity and community interrelationships.
- Ban Kang Pla: An ancient community of Loei province, with a lifestyle focused on weaving textiles since ancestral times. The women of the community use the loom to weave cloth during the day and spin silk during the night. Creating handwoven textiles is the daily routine of Ban Kang Pla community members.
- Na Aoh Community: The community strongly portrays the Lan Chang culture, with unique Thai-Loei architecture exemplifying the locals’ craftsmanship from one generation to the next. Homes are constructed using natural materials, with over 60 Thai-Loei homes being preserved for tourists to experience.
Moreover, the locals provide a warm welcome – introducing visitors to their simple and charming lifestyle. The community is full of lush, green gardens with vegetables grown by the locals. Each house has its own vegetable garden, where members can handpick their own organic produce to cook without having to purchase from the market. The members are interdependent, supporting each other like family members. These factors create a charm which must be personally experienced.
