Tourism Package: Greenery Trip in SukhoJai Land

(Muang Kao sub-district, Muang Sukhothai district, Sukhothai province)

Suitable for: families with children (age 5-12) / individuals who are interested in history + nature + local way of life

 

Other than being the location of the Sukhothai Historical Park World Heritage Site, according to experts’ research on native flora and fauna species, Sukhothai has an extremely rich biodiversity that interconnects with its local population’s way of life and ancient history. However, it is also shown that this ecosystem is fragile and should be under continuous observation. Visiting tourists of all ages are welcome to join the local community in monitoring the area's biodiversity while enjoying green experiences and playing a main role in actively improve for the environment at the same time.

  • Preparing your own water bottle, being a responsible tourist
  • Staying at a Green Hotel
  • Visiting the Green Historical Park and learning about interesting historical anecdotes
  • Exploring the biodiversity inside the Sukhothai Historical Park World Heritage Site
  • Taking EV Tuk Tuk as transportation
  • Enjoying local cuisine with safe, agricultural products
  • Supporting local products

DAY 1

07:30   Traveling to Sukhothai province. (If you come from Bangkok)

12:00   Stopping by a local restaurant in Phitsanulok province to have lunch

14:00   Arriving at Green Hotel in Sukhothai province

15:30   Visiting important temples in the Sukhothai Historical Park and the ancient irrigation system built in Sukhothai era via EV Tuk Tuk. You will be accompanied by guides with expertise in the World Heritage Site / by experienced local interpreters to local ancient sites, such as Wat Si Chum, King Ramkhamhamhaeng the Great Monument, and Wat Mahathat.

18:00   Enjoying dinner at Sukhothai’s Tha Nam Rap Sadet Market at your leisure. (Applicable only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)

19:00   Capturing the unique beauty of Sukhothai historical sites surrounded by the installed lights at night.  (Applicable only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)

20:00   Arriving at Green Hotel in Sukhothai province where you can rest at leisure

DAY 2

06:00   Making merit/giving alms at dawn at Saphan Boon Bridge, Wat Traphang Thong

07:30   Enjoying breakfast at the hotel or at local morning markets at your own leisure. You can also let locals introduce you to their local food like a local person at the local morning markets.

08:30   Meeting at Wat Sorasak to discover the rich biodiversity in the nearby ancient water source (Traphang). Discovering and recording the characteristics of the body of water, the dwelling aquatic plants, and small animals found, inside a specially-designed Passport Notebook and an ‘iNaturalist’ application.

11:00   Participating in activities at Rai Duangjai: learn how to raise chickens and ducks, and harvest ingredients on the Learning Farm for lunch, such as eggs from ducks and chickens, and seasonal vegetables, such as bamboo shoots. Together with some local products purchased from local markets, these freshly harvested ingredients will be made into local dishes by the joint effort of local staff and the participants themselves. 

12:30   Enjoying local dish in Green Tiffin Box-style

14:00   Visiting Rong Ta Phet Community, a community well-known for its craftsmanship in wood cravings. Here you will learn about the popular craving of Nok Khum, a type of auspicious bird that appeared in one of the Jataka tales describing the lives of the Bodhisattva (who later became the Buddha); this wooden bird is believed to protect homes and bring peace and happiness.

15:00   Visiting the ‘Sangkhalok’ earthenware area, street of art, and potteries with Phra Ruang’s art-styled flora and fauna. These elements are Good Practice Story that drives the Sukhothai Old Town to become one of the Top 100 Destination Sustainability Stories in 2021.

16:00   Participating in a DIY activity – sculpturing/molding a Nok Khum model

18:00   Having dinner at your leisure

 

DAY 3

07:30   Enjoying breakfast at the hotel or at local morning markets at your own leisure. You can also let locals introduce you to their local food like a local person at the local morning markets.

09:30   Participating in a DIY activity – Painting Sangkhalok patterns onto a shirt and bringing it back as a souvenir from SukhoJai Land

11:00   Buying local souvenirs and snacks

12:00    Enjoying Sukhothai noodles

13:00    Returning to Bangkok
